Door Lock Latch Assembly Stuck

Door lock doesn t latch properly.

Door lock latch assembly stuck. Turn the knob to open the door and release the knob slowly. For some models you ll need to remove a few screws where the handle. Attach the plastic door lock actuator back onto the assembly with two screws. Install the white plastic cover back onto the lock and actuator assembly by securing it with the two other screws you removed previously.

It appears that your latch is missing some parts or something broke off which is why putting knob back on did not work. Because the rest of the latch is not there you can try to use a small screwdriver and push between the door and the jamb and wiggle it sideways so it clears the latch. Letting the components sit fully submerged in a vinegar of about 5 acidity will do the job of separating the gunk from your metal. Take the latch and knob off of the door and clean them.
